Signs of a Ritual
Coming from a flat, sleepy suburban area with no apartment complexes, the public housing towers in Collingwood made me curious about its occupants and their everyday rituals as they live in closer proximity to their neighbours – do they then share more common daily routines than people occupying the suburban sprawl? Walking in the area I noticed on the side of the public housing building 100 + pigeons sitting on the edge of the window sills. In a moment, they all took to the air, flying straight through me to a mother and her son waiting to feed them. What was a frightening experience, full of immobility was conversely an exciting moment for the mother and son. Was this a recurring ritual?
